Pieter Capiau’s practice focuses on representing technology companies throughout their growth cycle, from start-ups to large public companies.
Among other aspects of his practice, Pieter represents domestic and international clients in venture capital and private equity financings, mergers and acquisitions, innovation counseling and complex corporate issues and transactions, such as strategic collaborations and off-balance sheet financings. In addition to representing a number of venture-backed emerging technology and growth companies, Pieter also has extensive experience representing venture capital investors and funds in connection with venture equity investments and fund formations.
Pieter also counsels companies on technology strategy and monetization, including sophisticated IP-based transactions and licensing agreements, data protection matters and free and open source licensing.

Prior to being a partner at Cresco, Pieter was senior associate in the corporate and transactions department of Ambos NBGO (2006−2014).
After obtaining his law degree (UA, 2005), he obtained postgraduate degrees in corporate law (KUB/KUL, 2007), business law (UA, 2009), corporate finance (KUL, 2008) and venture capital (UCLA, 2012).
